Since the rented house is sold and the in-construction house is not yet built, we are forced to find other living arrangements. This isn't totally disheartening as we will be leaving behind the haunting crew, a drafty breeze and other small but annoying factors that make this house "antique".
NEW DIGGS: Due to the short period of time left until the new construction house is done (about 3 months), the best deal and most hassle free deal we could find is to rent a hotel room near work. Normally this wouldn't be "cheap" but I followed the advice of TJ Hooker actor William Shatner and Priceline actually came through with a nightly rate 40% lower than advertised. Of course, part of the joy of using Priceline is that you have no idea exactly what hotel you will get and what amenities will come with.
FOOD: After some research it seems that our new 'home' will include a microwave and a small fridge..... this is quite a bit less than our current living situation so it requires some adjustment. All of the food we have in the fridge right now is not really "microwave ready" cuisine. So to ensure we are not wasting anything in the fridge, we spent at least half the day cooking food and putting stuff into containers. Today we made a cornucopia of food ranging from Chorizo-Bean Dip to Broiled Salmon.
PACKING: Did you know moving is one of the top three most stressful situations a human can experience? (I think public speaking and family death are the other two..... )We are fortunate to not have to pack too much stuff. We left most of everything in boxes when we got to the frozen Tundra of Minnesota a few months ago. Once we finish packing all the dishes, pots and pans into boxes we will pretty much be ready to go.
I'll tell you how the hotel is in a few days. And here's a little 80's.....
